Apple sure knows how to sell their products. If you look closely, you might find better alternatives, in terms of specs, in the smartphone market, but despite that the demand for an iPhone is no less than it was on first launch. If anything, it has increased. Looking at the amount of business iPhone 4 did, no one expected another device to surpass it any time in the near future. But just over a year after iPhone 4, Apple has done it again. The iPhone 4S was launched a few months back and it has proved to be the most successful iPhone yet.

So what makes iPhone 4S such a popular hit among the masses? Let’s take a closer look at the actual specs of the device. Compared to iPhone 4, it has not got any difference on the outside, having exactly the same form factor, and most of the interface. There are 3 things which set the newer iPhone apart from its predecessors. It has a more advanced A5 processor, its camera is far superior compared to older models (8 Megapixel) and finally it has Siri. Siri is the talking personal assistant incorporated within an iPhone 4S. There have been many apps which can interact with users via speech, but Siri is different due to the depth of integration it enjoys with iOS and the device.
Siri can be used to accomplish a number of tasks on an iPhone 4S, including setting up reminders, checking weather and searching the net. That’s not all; you can do a lot more with the feature. But, some might argue that Siri does nothing which could not have been achieved by the use of a third party app. This statement is true to a limited extent, but you have to keep in mind that no other software to date has had the same conversational style Siri boasts. You can have pleasant chats with Apple’s voice assistant, and it has got an opinion on almost anything. On a more serious note, Siri is location aware, meaning that it gives results based on where you are currently located.
Other platforms, including Android and Windows Phone 7, have started to come up with their own versions of Siri, but so far nothing has reached that level intuitiveness possessed by Siri.
